International Women’s Day – Katie Stockell
Meet Katie Stockell our SHEQ Coordinator at ACWA. We asked Katie a few questions so we could run a short profile highlighting her role, achievements and advice for others entering the industry.
What is your role at ACWA?
My current role is SHEQ Coordinator, although I first joined ACWA as a Technical Clerk. I now look after our procedures, making sure they’re clear, fit for purpose, and genuinely helpful for the people using them. I also carry out internal audits and support our external ones, helping to keep our ISO certifications in good shape and ensuring we’re always working to a high standard.
What’s an achievement you’re proud of?
One of the achievements I’m most proud of at ACWA is playing a key role in securing our triple integrated ISO certification (9001, 14001 & 45001). This was the result of three years of sustained effort, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the business. Being part of that journey – helping to develop, refine, and embed the systems that supported our success – was incredibly rewarding. Seeing all of that hard work come together and being recognised through certification felt like a real milestone, both for the company and for me personally.
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
To me, International Women’s Day is about celebrating women who have achieved incredible things, often in the face of real challenges. It’s a moment to recognise their resilience, their determination, and the progress they’ve helped drive – not just for themselves, but for the generations that follow. It’s also a reminder of how important it is to continue supporting and uplifting women so that everyone can thrive.
What is your superpower in the workplace?
My workplace superpower is being the person people naturally come to when they need help. After more than 10 years at ACWA, I’ve built up a strong understanding of how things work and who does what, so colleagues often seek me out with questions. I pride myself on either knowing the answer or knowing exactly who they need to speak to. Being able to point people in the right direction and make their jobs a little easier is something I genuinely enjoy.
