UF membranes are widely available with a variety of filtration cut-off points (ranging from 0.01 to 0.001 micron) to suit particular project requirements. The coarsest UF membranes overlap with the finest Microfiltration membranes whilst the finest UF membranes overlap with the 'slacker' nanofiltration membranes depending on the particular application (temperature, pH etc affect the retention ability of every membrane in slightly different ways).

Membrane ratings are sometimes described in terms of 'MWCO' (Molecular Weight Cut-Off) rather than microns particularly where the membrane is employed primarily for the removal of dissolved organics.

Ultrafiltration membranes are available in a variety of configurations

  • Tubular, Flat Sheet, Hollow Fibre, Spiral Wound
  • Out-to-in, or In-to-out filtration.
  • Vertical or Horizontal arrangement.

ACWA are not tied to any particular supplier and will select the most appropriate membrane for each application.
