International air, water and effluent treatment specialist ACWA is celebrating its 25th anniversary with significant contract wins both in the UK and overseas.

Recent major achievements in the UK include deals to provide the Company’s robust and popular Nitreat®, nitrate removal system at three of Anglian Water’s water treatment works, two at Cambridge Water’s treatment works and one at a Thames Water site. The company has also won a significant contract from Yorkshire Water to provide additional control systems for its Naburn sludge treatment facilities.

ACWA Managing Director, Peter Ripley notes: “Our work in the industrial wastewater treatment sector is also showing strong growth in the UK. We have recently won major contracts to provide a biofilter effluent treatment system to cereal giant Kellogg’s and to supply Coca-Cola Enterprises with a de-alkaliser in anticipation of a predicted surge in demand during the Olympics next year.”

The company is well known for its prestigious contracts in the Middle East such as the Al Ansab membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment and reuse plant in Oman. Other award winning contracts include a membrane-based wastewater treatment and reuse solution for Al Shumaisi in Saudi Arabia, which is entering its construction phase, and a fast-track irrigation water project for Riyadh’s prestigious Princess Noura University for Women (PNUFW) in Saudi Arabia.

In other sectors, ACWA Air, which offers a wide range of individually-tailored air pollution control systems, is also experiencing large growth with several recent major contract wins for its wet and dry scrubbing systems in the UK and Far East.

There’s success in America too, with the Company’s recently established joint venture, ‘ACWA Clear’ achieving significant process contracting business for water and wastewater treatment applications
