The plant will treat up to 95,000 m³/hour of flue gas from a glass bead furnace at a maximum temperature of 650°C and, in addition to ensuring that discharge levels are well ahead of stringent emissions legislation, will also recover and return valuable glass product to the processing facility.

The flue gases from the furnace are ducted to a heat exchanger which uses ambient air as the cooling medium. Any glass bead product which falls out of the gas stream is collected beneath the heat exchanger and discharged through a rotary valve, whilst cooled, dust laden, gas is discharged at the base of the heat exchanger and is ducted to a fabric filter.

As gas is drawn directly through the filter, the glass particles impinge on the outsides of the
dust collection bags and are removed by a plc controlled low pressure scavenging system. This provides a constant pressure at the furnace, ensuring efficient operation. Glass particles removed from the bags fall to the base of a conical hopper and are discharged through a rotary valve.

The glass beads from the filter together with any that drops out in the heat exchanger and ducts are collected in a pneumatic conveying system and recovered as high grade product.
