MBR Licensee thoughout Gulf
Skipton-based water, effluent and sewage treatment contractor, ACWA Services, has signed an exclusive license agreement with Kubota Membrane Europe Ltd to sell submerged membrane technology throughout the Middle East.
ACWA is now part of an elite International network of partners supplying Kubota Submerged Flat Sheet Membranes worldwide. The license agreement for the Middle East was previously held by Aquator Bahrain - a company acquired by ACWA Services in the early part of 2004.
At the cutting edge of membrane technology, Kubota Flat Sheet Submerged Membranes provide high quality water supplies from wastewater and have considerable advantages when compared with competitive alternatives. Kubota membranes are used extensively in advanced MBR systems, treating wastewater for irrigation purposes.
To establish closer links with new and existing customers throughout the Middle East, a new marketing organisation, ACWA MBR, has been set up to provide sales and support services from offices in Dubai, Jordan, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.
In operation, Kubota membranes provide a cross-flow solids-liquid separation process which requires no primary or secondary settlement stages and no additional tertiary treatment or UV stages to achieve high quality water, typically better than 5:5:5 mg/L BOD: TSS: NH3.
ACWA MBR already has ten projects currently operating or under construction - including a 18,000m3/day water recycling plant on Dubai's "Palm Jumeirah" residential island complex.
