Liquor treatment design & build for Southern Water
ACWA Services has received a contract to design and construct an AMTREAT® sludge liquor treatment plant for the Southern Water Sludge Treatment Centre in Ashford. The contract was placed by Black & Veatch Ltd, the main contractor responsible for upgrading the site.

Award for Nitreat™, innovative nitrate removal technology
At the end of October, Mike Smith, Operations Director at ACWA Services Limited, together with colleagues from Anglian Water Plc, Biwater Treatment Ltd and Puritech Ltd received an award from the Institute of Chemical Engineers in recognition of the successful application of 'NITREAT™', - a novel form of ion exchange for the removal of nitrate from drinking water.

Package Reverse Osmosis for Saudi Construction Camps
Two Temporary Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plants, designed and built by ACWA Emirates for the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), are providing high quality drinking water for construction workers at the Khursaniyah and Khazna (KPF) Project site camps in Saudi Arabia.

Prestigious award for water re-use scheme
International Water, Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Contractor - ACWA Services – has gained a Distinction in the "Water Reuse Project of the Year" category of the Global Water Awards 2007 for its Membrane Bioreactor Wastewater and Sewage Treatment Pant on the Palm Jumeirah Development in Dubai.

Water re-use in Dubai
ACWA Emirates LLC - the Middle Eastern arm of ACWA Services - has been awarded the design and supply contract for a Submerged Membrane Bioreactor (sMBR) Plant at the prestigious "The Greens" residential complex in Dubai UAE. The order was placed by Metito (Overseas) Ltd, with EMAAR as the end client.

Skipton-based water, effluent and sewage treatment contractor, ACWa Services, has signed an exclusive license agreement with Kubota Membrane Europe Ltd to sell Submerged membrane technology throughout the Middle East.

Orders from Thames & Anglian for Innovative Technology
ACWA Services has successfully installed and commissioned a 'NITREAT' plant for the removal of nitrates at the Sheafhouse WTW of Thames Water and – as part of an agreement with Biwater Treatment Ltd – is currently building six of these plants at various treatment sites of Anglian Water.

Design completed for 50 Mld RO desalination plant
ACWA Emirates LLC, a subsidiary of Skipton (UK)-based ACWA Services, has completed the detailed design for a $90 million order to build two identical Seawater Desalination Plants on the crown of the prestigious "Palm Jumeirah" – the palm-shaped development created off the coast of Dubai (UAE). The contract was awarded to ACWA by Palm Water, the utility company for the development.

Submersible membranes for dairy waste
ACWa MBR – the Middle Eastern arm of ACWa Services - has supplied Submersible Membrane Systems for a sewage and effluent treatment plant extension/upgrade project at the Almarai Trading Company's dairy products processing facility in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia. The Kubota flat sheet submersible membranes systems were supplied by ACWa to the main contractor for the project, WETICO-Saudi Berkefeld.

Water treatment works part of £210 million package for Scottish Water
A new Water Treatment Works - recently installed and commissioned at Ballachulish on the shores of Kinlochleven - is the latest of a series of major projects completed by ACWA Services to meet the on-going expansion initiatives of Scottish Water. The Ballachulish Water Treatment Works forms part of a £l210M package of improvements by Scottish Water to provide the highest quality water supplies for the Highland regions of Scotland.
